Opening words

We, who have gathered here today are now privileged to witness and to participate in a ceremony celebrating, the public acknowledgment of a love, which Kyle and Kim have for each other, knowing that by our presence here with them, we are saying that they, together, are loved by many others. We have come to support them as they stand before us in this center, where now Kyle and Kim say "Welcome to our marriage! Welcome to the Celebration!

Marriage is a commitment to life, the best that two people can find and bring out in each other. It offers opportunities for sharing and growth that no other relationship can equal. It is a physical and an emotional joining that is promised for a lifetime. Within the circle of its love, marriage encompasses all of life's most important relationships. A wife and a husband are each other's best friend, confidant, lover, teacher, listener, and cheerleader.Marriage deepens and enriches every facet of life. Happiness is fuller, memories are fresher, commitment is stronger, even anger is felt more strongly, and passes away more quickly. Marriage understands and forgives the mistakes life is unable to avoid. It encourages and nurtures new life, new experiences, new ways of expressing a love that is deeper than life. When two people pledge their love and care for each other in marriage, they create a spirit unique unto themselves which binds them closer than any spoken or written words. Marriage is a promise, a potential made in the hearts of two people who love each other and takes a lifetime to fulfill.

Sand Ceremony

Kyle and Kim as you are married today, the joining of your two hearts to one is symbolized through the pouring of your individual containers of sand. Your vial of sand represents each of you as an individual-and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be. Additionally, we combine the sand of your children, Dallas and Lillian, representing their lives as they intertwine with yours. As family members, you will bring both happiness and sorrow to one another, you will be each other's strength and on occasion, you will be each other's trial! As you pour the sand into the single vessel, remember, that even if you are far apart, you will always belong to one another, for the four of you and the three of you are irrevocably bound together on this wonderful, yet challenging journey that we call life.

I ask that you take your vials of sand and combine them into one in the center vessel of the dish before us.

Kim, Kyle, Lillian and Dallas will go around the table and pour their sand into the center container.

Officiant: On this special day, as these containers of sand are poured together, it is our wish that the light of love will always guide the path of your family's journey.

Bowl of Blessings
(Officiant) You have each been given a small stone that you have held in your hands while Kim and Kyle have expressed their vows of love and commitment. The rock, which was once a very part of the earth itself and the material which comprises these majestic peaks, is a very strong symbol of permanence, strength and beauty. It is fitting therefore that we use rocks to symbolize the strength and permanence of the vows that Kim and Kyle have proclaimed before all of us.

And yes, we have come here to day to celebrate with Kyle and Kim, but I remind you that we have come here for another reason as well, and that is to offer our ongoing love and support to them as they begin their married life. By our presence at this marriage ceremony, we have been called upon to uphold and bless this union.  And in light of that, I ask that you now take your stone in your hand and in the quiet of your heart offer a small blessing for this couple...a wish that is uniquely from you.

Silence….

Perhaps you wish for them the graceful passage of time as they grow old together…

Perhaps it is strength to endure the hard times

Maybe you wish them eternal optimism and faith in each other

Or everlasting passion for life together

Silence (brief)

After the ceremony, Sam will be bringing this dish to the back where you may deposit your "blessing" stone. The richness of the colors and the shine of the stones will be a symbol of the richness and blessings that they represent. Kyle and Kim will make this bowl a part of their home, where they will have it always as a reminder of this day and the love and support that will be forever extended to them by all of us gathered here today.

Kyle and Kim, may these small stones always be a reminder to you that you are surrounded by people who care about you and wish you well. May the blessings of all of us gathered here be reassurance that the love you have for one another will continue to grow and hold you close. May the true light within you guide your way together. May your dreams come true, and when they don't, may new dreams arise.  And long, long years from now, when these stones are not quite as shiny and new, may you look at each other and say, "Because of you, I have lived the life I always wanted to live-because of you I have become the person I longed to be."

Pronouncement

Kyle and Kim in so much as the two of you have agreed to live together in matrimony, have promised your love for each other by these vows, the giving of these rings and the joining of your hands, I now declare you to be husband and wife.

Kyle, you may kiss the bride!

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present for the first time as husband and wife-- the happy couple, Mr. & Mrs. Kyle and Kim Smith

Recessional

Kim and Kyle will exit together, followed by the children, then Dawn & Sam, carrying Bowl of Blessings.
